Koufounissi
This is a spectacular island located just a little south of Makrigialos; in fact it is more of a magnificent piece of rock that proudly rises up from the beautiful blue sea that surrounds her. On the island many antiquities have been found of which the amphitheater, that could seat a thousand people, is one of the most astounding.
Furthermore, the remains were found of a villa (that mainly housed fishermen) a few impressive public baths and a magnificent large Roman statue. We find it an ideal island to sunbath or perhaps camp on its beautiful beach one night. A boat leaves daily for the island of Koufounissi from the harbor of Makrigialos. Should you miss this boat, no problem; a local fisherman (against a modest compensation) will be more than happy to take you there himself.
