Lassithi is known for her spectacular coastline and more specifically for its beautiful (sandy) beaches. Many of these beaches have been awarded the Blue Flag (cleanest beach) by the European Community and apart from popular beaches such as Vai and Agios Nikolaos they are not overcrowded. What I personally find an asset is the fact that they have not been excessively commercialized, meaning that water jets, skis and parasailing are kept at a minimum. There is also an enormous diversity of beaches in Lassithi such as the pebbled beaches for instance, particularly on the south coast of the island. They have the advantage of not being so sticky but it can get a little hot under your feet though. In Xerocampos you will come across some gorgeous, snow-white beaches, which are unique in the whole of Crete. Furthermore the Lassithi province boasts numerous lovely inlets with beautiful deep blue waters where you will while away the time, giving an extra dimension to your holiday.
