The first stop after Aghios Nikolaos is the traditional village of Limnes. Here you can stop to see various workshops of the local artisans that today have been almost lost from Crete, such as the shoemaker, the blacksmith and others. Take a walk along the stone alleyways of the village, and see the traditional houses with their ceramic roofs and enjoy a coffee with the locals. Continuing from the next village of Nikithano along the country road, you arrive at the small plateau of Fourni, where on your left you will see the Hill of Aghios Adonios. In the next village of Kasteli it is interesting to stop and visit the Folklore Museum of "Mylopetra" (Apple Rock), which is housed in a renovated olive oil factory. You then pass through the villages of Kato and Pano Fourni, both of which are exceptional in the region of Merabello. Ascending through Fourni, to your left you will pass by the villages of Dories, Karidi, Skinia, Louma, Selles and Vroucha and also by the Monastery of Areti. All of these villages are quite small, but they are built on spectacular sites and have just about managed to retain their traditional character. Time has stood still here from the good old days of Crete. After Vroucha, you head down towards Plaka. In front of you, you will see the panoramic Bay of Merabello, the islet of Spinalonga with the island of Kolokitha and the channel of Elounda. In Plaka or in Elounda, you can leave your car and visit the Venetian fortress of Spinalonga by small fishing boats.
